Garberville/Redway Chamber of Commerce

Only four hours north of San Francisco, the Garberville/Redway area is the perfect base for your exploration of the enchanting Redwood Empire.

You can find lodging, restaurants, colorful shops and a full entertainment calendar. A movie theater, concerts, a summer Shakespeare festival and crafts fairs enrich the area.

Day trips can take you to the spectacular redwood groves on the Avenue of the Giants, the intriguing Lost Coast, the coastal community of Shelter Cove, and the secluded King Range National Conservation Area and Sinkyone Wilderness. Un-crowded parklands, wildflowers and abundant wildlife set the stage for family outdoor recreational opportunities.

The climate is moderate, with summertime temperatures in the 80s. Winters are wet and mild with occasional snow or frost. The elevation in Garberville is 479 feet, while King's Peak rises to 4,087 feet, and the air is crystal clear. The Eel River and the Mattole River wind through the area, providing habitat for salmon and steelhead.

Garberville and Redway each count about 2,000 people and serve a surrounding rural area of about 15,000. Both Garberville and Shelter Cove have small airports, and the 18-bed Garberville hospital has emergency facilities.

The Garberville/Redway Chamber of Commerce operates a visitor center at 773 Redwood Drive where you can stop for all your area information.
