Star Wars, the Lost World and other Hollywood films have starred the majestic redwoods.
Over the years, Humboldt County's unique parks and towns have drawn attention from many movie makers. The press has taken note of the starring role of Humboldt County as well. In 2009, in a runup to the Oscar presentations, the San Francisco Chronicle Travel Section presented five nominations for Best Inspiration for Movie Locations. Families visiting the area may want to join in the fun and plan a tour of the locales. Kids of all ages can walk through the Victorian town where Jim Carey starred in the Majestic and Dustin Hoffman in Outbreak, the state park beach where Mathew Perry was a pirate; and the otherworldly canyons and groves where giant lizards and Jedi knights once strode.
