Trinidad a Seaside Village

Where the Redwoods Meet the Sea!

On a rocky bluff overlooking Trinidad Bay, surrounded by redwoods and spruce, lies the seaside village of Trinidad. It is often compared to a quaint Cornish fishing village. Trinidad Head rises above and shelters the harbor, the pier and a small fleet of fishing boats.

The Trinidad area is one of the most spectacular and pristine segments of the California coast. It has been established as a California Coastal National Monument Gateway - an area that offers the best shore-based opportunities to discover and view offshore rocks and islands and their inhabitants. Rocks off the coast of Trinidad support one of the most diverse seabird colonies in California with twelve species and over 100,000 breeding individuals. The two most important areas for seabirds are Green Rock and Flatiron Rock. These two rocks alone account for 25% of the most important seabird colonies along the California coast.
