Van Duzen County Park

Beautiful virgin redwood groves. Great for picnicking, camping, hiking, fishing and swimming in the Van Duzen River.

Camping is on a first-come, first-served basis. 30 tent sites - showers - hiking trails - dogs ok.

Van Duzen County Park contains two of the most popular swimming holes on the Van Duzen River:

Pamplin Grove is in the less well known western annex of the park, a couple of miles before the park proper. It has a camping and recreation area that can be reserved for large groups, Pamplin Grove is closed to day users when it is reserved, but otherwise provides access to an excellent swimming hole.   Have your wedding or special event in a beautiful redwood grove. More well known is Swimmer's Delight, in the main park area. Drive straight ahead from the entry kiosk, bear right at the fork and drive down to the Day Use area at river’s edge. There are usually two swimming holes in this location, depending on the water level and river flow rate. The near sides are shallow; the far sides are deep beneath tall sandstone bluffs. In July and August, it is a good idea to arrive by mid-morning or earlier. By noon, Swimmers’ Delight can be closed to additional swimmers.   Hwy 101 to Hwy 36 (just south of Fortuna), then 12 miles east.
